CAPTAIN DUANE EIVINS-RESIDENTIAL BUILDING INSPECTOR
Bio: Capt. Eivins -
Captain Eivins has been an Omaha Firefighter for 19 years. Fifteen years on fire trucks. Eight of those years as a Driver. Four years as a Captain.
He is a Rescue Technician, to include trench rescue, collapse structure rescue, high angle rope rescue.
The last four years he has been a building inspector, on the Omaha fire Department.
The last year he has been assigned to the Fire Prevention Division as the EXISTING residential inspector. This covers existing residential occupancies larger than duplexes. This includes hotels/motels, room and board. This position was active for a few years, then it was removed for about eight years. December of 2020 the position was reactivated, and he took the position.
Captain Eivins teamed up with the City of Omaha Housing Code Enforcement inspectors, and the Omaha Police Department officers, and Douglas County Health Department, as needed, to get the mission done.

Jeff is currently the tobacco policy educator for the Tobacco Free Nebraska program and provides technical assistance on a number of tobacco initiatives including implantation of smoke-free housing policy.
