Letter from HUD-Assistance Animals

HUD Secretary Ben Carson wrote a letter to the FTC on November 6th requesting the FTC to investigate websites that are offering verification of an individual's disability for an emotional support animal. Although the letter specifically states that HUD views documentation from such websites offer documentation not reliable for purposes of determining whether an individual has a disability, it is advised to wait until clarification is provided by HUD as to whether an accommodation request for an assistance animal is denied based on such a letter.
